From Design to Construction

Our Remodeling Process

We're here to walk with you through the entire remodeling experience from concept & design to permitting & construction

Here are some key details of each phase of your remodel so you know exactly what to expect

 Phase 1
Getting Started

 Phase 2
Design & Development

 Phase 3
Construction

 Phase 4
Final Details & Warranty

Phase 1
Getting Started

1. Discovery Call

We want to hear about your goals for your new space, the budget you're trying to stay within, what's working and what can be improved.

We'll ask questions like...

- How much are you looking to invest?

- How soon would you like to start? And when would you like the project completed by?

- What are the major areas you're looking to update? What would you like to keep?

→ Schedule a discovery call

2. Home Visit

We’ll set up a visit to your home to see the space you’re looking to remodel, take a few measurements, and discuss your overall vision for the new space.

We’d love to take a few photos of the areas you’re looking to update as well as any relevant mechanical rooms and interior/exterior access points.

3. Preliminary BUDGET & SCOPE OF WORK

We'll send you a document outlining the preliminary scope of work and estimated budget based on our initial conversations and home visit. It helps ensure we are aligned on the overall direction, priorities, and investment range before moving into the design phase. While not a final proposal, it serves as a planning tool to guide decisions and confirm we’re starting in the right place.

4. Design Agreement & Deposit

If our estimated costs and scope of work align with your goals, we’ll provide a preconstruction agreement to initiate the design and planning portion of your remodel.  This upfront design package includes collaboration meetings with our in-house design team, layout planning, material selections, and detailed construction drawings. The design agreement cost is typically 2-3% of your preliminary budget.

At the end of the design phase, you’ll receive all drawings and selection schedules, so even if you decide to pause the project, you’ll have everything you need to pick up right where you left off.

Common Questions

How much does a typical remodel cost?

We work with a variety of investment ranges and guide your decisions during the design phase to stick within the budget you want to invest

How soon can we start construction?

A few factors affect how quickly we can begin your project - from overall design decision-making, to material availability, and weather conditions.
We'll discuss your timeline goals up front so we can guide your decisions around them.

How long does the remodel take?

The time of construction varies based on your scope of work & the area of your home we're remodeling but you can find overall guidelines below

Why does design matter?

Thoughtful decisions like improving layout flow, maximizing natural light, adding custom storage, and selecting timeless finishes can significantly increase both daily livability and long term resale value.

We believe intentional design is one of the most cost-effective ways you can achieve lasting value.

Phase 2
Design & Development

1. Design Questionnaire

We'll discuss in more detail your vision for the space including your design inspiration, color & finish preferences, and functionality pain points.

If you're unsure - don't worry! We'll help you discover your style and learn more about your lifestyle habits to ensure your new space works with you.

Get a head start review the questionnaire here

2. 3D Virtual Walkthrough

We’ll schedule an in-home appointment to create a 3D scan & virtual walkthrough of your current space.

This scan allows our team to ensure every detail is considered when planning your project while limiting those disruptive & repetitive site visits during the design phase

This only takes around 30-60 minutes to complete and saves hours of time throughout the process.

3. Design Meeting Objectives

Over the course of multiple in-person design meetings, we'll guide you on the following objectives:

  • Layout and space planning: Overall flow and location of major components like windows/doors, appliances, plumbing fixtures, walls, and structural features

  • Material & finish selections: Cabinetry, tile, flooring, fixtures, paint colors, and more

  • Selection placement & fine details: Lighting & electrical placements, elevations of all fixtures, custom architectural features, and finishing details

  • Final drawings, renderings, selection schedules: All construction drawings along with renderings and selection schedules will be provided to you at the end. If you decide to postpone construction, you have everything already planned to pick up right where you left off.

4. Final Presentation & Proposal

At the end of the design phase, you'll be presented with all construction drawings, finish schedules, and a complete project proposal so you know exactly what the construction will cost before making the commitment.

You can choose to move forward with construction now or wait until you're ready - whatever you choose, you'll have the drawings and tools to pick up right where you left off.

Phase 3
Construction

1. Designated project manager

You will be assigned a dedicated project manager who will oversee the construction phase of your remodel. They'll keep you informed on project progress, arrival times for our work crews,  schedule inspections, and problem solve if any challenges arise. They'll be your go-to for everything once your project begins.

→ Learn more about your team here

2. preconstruction walkthrough

Your project manager and your designer will walkthrough your project together on site to answer any questions you might have before beginning. We'll ensure all of those small details from the design phase get translated and  executed exactly how you envision.

We'll discuss access points, designated work areas, project preparation, and start dates at this meeting too.

→ See our guide on what to expect during construction here

3. scheduling & Project progress

We'll provide a project timeline and schedule at the beginning of your project so you know what to expect. We aim to begin and end on schedule but some of the details in between will change. Your project manager will communicate daily with what to expect for the upcoming few days & weekly with overall timelines so you know what work will be completed when.

You'll also have access to your own project portal to keep track of all those details throughout the process!

4. Final inspections and walkthroughs

We want you to love your remodeled space for years to come. Your project manager will walk through your project with you as we reach the project end date to ensure you're happy with every detail. We'll run through any new features so you know how to best use your new space.

We'll schedule a final professional clean, provide you with care and warranty information on all of your product selections, and finish things up with a professional photoshoot to capture the transformation!
